Tougher Than Steel app for iPhone and iPad

For the first time ever Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Tougher Than Steel ad campaign will come to life. Tougher Than Steel will take advantage of the new emerging technology, augmented reality (AR), to augment the latest Tougher Than Steel ad. See an augmentation of our Nation’s latest aircraft carrier and a Newport News Shipbuilding product, CVN-78, USS Gerald R. Ford. Users will have the chance to play the role of the carrier’s Air Boss by launching a X-47B unmanned combat air vehicle off CVN-78.

Using The App

Start the Tougher Than app and point the device’s camera at the Tougher Than Steel poster, get the image in full view of the camera and see CVN-78 aircraft carrier. Press the submarine icon to toggle on the Virginia-class Submarine. If you don’t have the Tougher Than Steel ad image handy go to http://www.huntingtoningalls.com/about/tougher/maryclaire to download and print the Tougher Than Steel ad image. iOS 9 users will need to be sure to ALLOW CAMERA ACCESS on start of the app.
